Description
Discover the "capital of explorers" in one day
Let yourself be surprised by the omnipresent history and culture, but also by the modern age and the joie de vivre that makes this city so attractive.
After driving through Alentejo, the largest province in the country with its cork oak forests, olive groves and rice fields, you will reach the cosmopolitan city of Lisbon. Founded on seven hills, it is considered the second Rome in Europe. As you approach the city, you have a wonderful view of the Christ the Redeemer, one of the most important sights in Lisbon.
Once in the city, visit the city's landmark, the Belém Tower, and the monument to the explorers, unveiled in 1960 on the 500th anniversary of the death of Henry the Navigator. You will visit the church of the monumental Jeronimos Monastery, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which King Manuel I had built by Vasco da Gama on the occasion of the successful discovery of India. Visit the interesting architecture of the monastery with its filigree mosaics, graves and colored glass windows.
Discover the flair of days gone by in Lisbon's obscure, romantic maze of alleys. Take the famous Santa Justa Elevator to the Upper Town for breathtaking views of the city (optional).
You will also never forget a visit to Alfama, the oldest and most original part of the city. Here you can buy souvenirs or watch the hustle and bustle in one of the numerous cafes. Let yourself drift through the labyrinth of winding streets, small archways and winding staircases or just jump on tram line 28, which crosses Lisbon from east to west.
