Golden Sands is located about 16 kilometers northeast of Varna in the tourist town of Slatni Pjazazi ('Golden Sands'), often called 'Slatni' by locals.

The three and a half kilometer long and up to one hundred meter wide beach is characterized by fine-grained, shimmering golden sand.

Summer on Golden Sands is long and warm, with temperatures reaching 27 degrees; there is always a mild, refreshing breeze. The water temperatures are also very pleasant at around 24 degrees in summer.
