Facts and figures about your holiday destination
Bulgaria is located in the north-eastern part of the Balkan Peninsula, at an important crossroads that has connected Europe with Asia and northern Europe with the Mediterranean for centuries.
Neighboring countries are Greece and Turkey in the south and Macedonia and Serbia in the west. The Danube forms a natural border with Romania to the north and Bulgaria borders the Black Sea to the east. The Bulgarian Black Sea coast is almost 400 km long and enchants with beautiful, wide sandy beaches that stretch along the entire coast.
Bulgaria has many varied landscapes: wide fields, deep valleys, evergreen forests, high mountains, fertile lowlands, enchanting vineyards and a picturesque coast. Many untouched landscapes are under nature protection. In the northern part of the country is the largest plain in Bulgaria - the fertile Danube plain. Endless fields of fruit, vegetables and grain open up far and wide. Further south are the Balkan Mountains, which gave the peninsula its name. This mountain range is about 600 km long and stretches from the western border of Bulgaria to the Black Sea.
In the bosom of the Balkan Mountains lies the Rose Valley, where the famous oily Bulgarian roses grow - the raw material for the aromatic rose water, which starts its journey from here to the world's perfumeries.
In southwestern Bulgaria rises the Rila Mountains with the highest peak Musala and numerous natural lakes called the eyes of the mountains.
