Description
Discover Djerba in the most comfortable way
With the air-conditioned coach (or minibus, depending on demand) you drive along the coast to the Römerdamm. This connection to the mainland, which is vital for Djerba, enables residents and visitors to the island to easily cross by bus, taxi (Louage) or private car. Goods reach Djerba via the Römerdamm by land, fresh water via pipelines and electricity via high-voltage lines.
We continue to the pottery village of Guellala. Here the traditional ceramics are modeled, fired and painted by hand. Perhaps you will find out the secret of the magic camel here?
But Guellala offers its visitors even more: an interesting museum in which the old and traditional Djerba is shown. Simply worth seeing!
After interesting insights into Tunisian traditions, you will immerse yourself in a piece of history: the synagogue "La Ghriba" awaits your visit (except on Jewish holidays, when entry is not permitted and this stop is skipped). Please observe the dress code.
Afterwards you take a long walk through “Djerba Hood”, an extraordinary open-air museum. Here you can admire some of the works of more than a hundred artists from around the world. Many new works of art are currently being worked on there - so it's worth a visit, even if you think you've already seen everything!
At the end of the morning, the bus will take you to the capital of Djerba, Houmt Souk. At first glance, this looks like an anthill to the visitor. Schools, offices, offices, many shops and craft businesses are located here. Use your free time to stroll and stroll and try your hand at bargaining and haggling. Your guide will give you helpful tips on how you can buy your souvenirs at good prices.
