Description
Discover the diverse mountain landscape of Gran Canaria
After leaving Playa del Inglés and Maspalomas, you'll head towards the Fataga Valley (Gran Canaria's Grand Canyon) with its breathtaking scenery and fantastic viewpoints. You'll visit an aloe vera plantation and gain insight into the cultivation and processing of this native plant. The journey then continues past the almond tree terraces to the quaint village of Tejeda. Here, you'll always have a view of the two sacred mountains of the Guanches, Roque Nublo and Roque Bentayga.
From Tejeda, you will travel to Artenara, the highest village on the island. There you will visit the ethnographic museum, which houses old buildings that retain the characteristics of the typical traditional dwellings of this village. You will also view a chapel located in a cave from the outside, where you can admire an impressive landscape in the oldest part of the island.
Next, you'll drive up a mountain 1500 meters above sea level. There you'll find the crater of one of the last volcanic eruptions. From here, you can see Tenerife with Mount Teide and Las Palmas – and on a particularly clear day, even as far as Fuerteventura.
Afterwards, the bus travels through pine forests to the green side of the island to Valleseco for lunch (not included in the price).
After lunch, this excursion takes you to Teror, a pilgrimage site on Gran Canaria and one of the most beautiful villages in the Canary Islands. There you will find traditional architecture such as the famous wooden balconies. Finally, the tour continues via Arucas and past Las Palmas back south.
