Description
On the trail of the Minoan culture
A visit to Knossos is one of the highlights of every trip to Crete. Combine fascinating culture with the pulsating life of the Cretan capital Heraklion.
You will visit the palace of Knossos. This is only 7 kilometers south of Heraklion and was once the largest of all Minoan palaces. It is considered the seat of the legendary King Minos, who built the labyrinth for the Minotaur (the monster half man, half bull). The Minoan culture originated 4.000 years ago and is considered the cradle of Europe. You will encounter this distant epoch on a guided tour through the partially reconstructed palace complex with its fascinating architecture.
Afterwards you will have the opportunity to visit the archaeological museum and the Venetian fortresses. Or you can take a leisurely stroll through the capital's lively shopping streets.
Don't miss this ride!
