Due to its favorable location, protected by mountains in the north and by islands from the sea, the Kvarner Bay was a popular resort for the Austrian nobility in both summer and winter because of its balanced climate. Then as now, the big islands of Rab, Lošinj, Krk and Cres also have over 2500 hours of sunshine a year. Above all, divers and other water sports enthusiasts have discovered the islands for themselves. Many remarkable buildings and hotels from the last century testify to the architectural diversity in the city of Opatija, which can already look back on a long tradition in tourism. The range of sports and entertainment options in the region is correspondingly wide. If you feel like hiking or walking, the mountains around the Kvarner Bay offer many opportunities.
Beaches in Kvarner Bay
Gravel and rocky beaches, bathing terraces (bathing shoes recommended), sandy beaches in Lopar, Kampor, Supetarska Draga (island of Rab) and Caska (island of Pag)
