A few kilometers behind Sibenik, the gates of the Krka National Park, offer access to a unique, paradisiacal river landscape.
This national park covers most of the course of the river with its bank region, from the historic town of Skradin where numerous fortress ruins are located.
The waterfalls are the hallmark and main attraction of Krka National Park. There are a total of 17 barriers, dozens of smaller ones and a handful of large ones, which together climb 46 meters over the entire length of the park area.
On the large lake there is a lonely monastery island, which is a perfect vantage point. The Krka partly flows through deep gorges cut by water in the karst plateau and forms several lakes, especially between the two largest and most beautiful waterfalls, Skradinski Buk and Roski Slap.
