The following items may be imported into Mexico tax-free:
- Articles of personal use: clothing, shoes, hygiene and cosmetic products, baby equipment and accessories
- 2 photo or video cameras, photo equipment, 3 telephones, a GPS device, an electronic calendar, a portable device (laptop, etc.), copier, printer, burner, projector including accessories
- 2 personal sports equipment, 4 fishing rods, 3 surfboards plus accessories, trophies and awards
- Devices for sound/image recording and reproduction, portable speakers plus accessories
- 5 laserdiscs, 10 DVDs, 30 CDs, 3 software packages, 5 storage media
- Books, magazines, printed documents
- Five toys, one video console, five video games
- Blood pressure or glucose monitor, doctor's prescription required for psychotropic drugs
- Suitcases, hand luggage, chests, travel cases
- Binoculars and telescope
- 2 musical instruments plus accessories
- Camping equipment
- Hand tool set with bag
Travelers over 18 years of age may also import the following items tax-free:
- max. 10 packs of cigarettes or 25 cigars or 200g of tobacco
- 3 liters of alcohol, 6 liters of wine
Elderly travelers and people with disabilities have the opportunity to import items that support their mobility (walking aids, wheelchairs, walking sticks, etc.) tax-free.
In addition to luggage, goods worth up to $500 per person may be imported tax-free during the holiday season. Outside of the holiday season, the tax-free allowance is $300 per person. It is recommended that you bring receipts with you as proof of the value of the goods covered by the tax-free allowance.
