Clean beaches and long promenades
Kemer is about 40 kilometers southwest of Antalya at the foot of the Taurus Mountains, some of which are over 3.000 meters high here. Kemer is one of the most important tourism centers in Turkey. The beach is so clean that it has been awarded a Blue Flag by the FEE (Foundation for Environmental Education). The long beach promenade of Kemer city invites you to take a walk or to visit one of the numerous cafés or restaurants. At the end of the promenade lies the beautiful marina. An Anatolian village has been faithfully recreated on the hill behind. In the rural, typically Turkish settlement, you can learn a lot about the way people used to live.
The ancient city of Phaselis is surrounded by pine groves on a peninsula about 10 kilometers south of Kemer.
The 690 BC Founded in XNUMX BC, the city had three natural seaports and was exceptionally prosperous for a long time. It was the most important port city of the Lycian League. The archaeological site is very well preserved. Agoras, thermal baths, harbor walls, aqueducts, as well as the fortifications and the boulevard that connected the different parts of the city can be admired. The idyllic excavation site is very popular with locals, who come here for picnics and swimming, especially on weekends.
The Bavarian town of Schwabach is Kemer's twin town.
