The ancient city of Perge is located 16 km northeast of Antalya. Alongside Side, it was the most important city in ancient Pamphylia. Some of its ruins are very well preserved, so that the visitor gets a good impression of the former city layout.
Its main attractions include the stadium, which could seat up to 12.000 spectators, the theater, which could even hold up to 15.000 spectators, and the imposing Hellenistic city gate. On the north side, Perge is bordered by a table mountain that is 90 meters high and 700 meters wide. Excavations show that it was inhabited as early as the Neolithic Age.
