In the footsteps of the Romans - Journey of discovery to Roman cultural sites

Embark on a fascinating journey of discovery to the lesser-known Roman sites in Thuburbus Majus, Oudhna and Zaghouan.

The adventure begins in the Roman ruins of Thuburbus Majus, which awaits with its impressive capitol, well-preserved Roman roads and the remains of the thermal baths in the middle of the green, rural hinterland of Tunisia.

We continue to the archaeological site of Oudhna. Nestled in a hilly, fertile landscape, this site has not yet been fully explored. The well-preserved amphitheater, which was partially carved into the mountain, can be admired. At the time of its construction, it was one of the largest of its kind and could accommodate up to 16.000 spectators.

Next stop is Zaghouan, a picturesque town rich in history and culture. A delicious lunch is on the agenda, followed by a visit to the Roman Water Temple. This impressive temple was part of a 132 km long aqueduct that connected the city of Zaghouan with the capital city of Tunis. The aqueduct is considered one of the greatest engineering feats of antiquity and was used to bring fresh spring water from the mountains to Tunis. The Water Temple itself is an impressive example of Roman engineering and testifies to the importance of water supply in Roman civilization.

This journey into the picturesque hinterland of Tunisia is a journey through time with many impressive experiences and little-discovered treasures - an experience for all the senses.
