Versatile town in the north of Cyprus
The villages Protaras and Paralimni are located on the picturesque southeast coast between Famagusta (Northern Cyprus) and Ayia Napa. The landmark of Protaras is enthroned on a stone cliff: the small Profites Ilias chapel. From up here the view of the beautiful landscape and the lively resort of Protaras is magnificent.
In the center of Protaras you will find numerous taverns, restaurants, bars and entertainment options. The wonderful white sandy beaches are among the most beautiful on the island and invite you to swim, sunbathe and linger. Extensive water sports round off the program in Protaras.
The pretty little town of Paralimni with its white houses is a little further inland and is home to a number of garden taverns known for their delicious local cuisine. On the large village square you will find three churches, a lookout tower and an open-air stage. The flat and beautiful landscape between Ayia Napa and Protaras / Paralimni is particularly suitable for tours by bike or for walkers.
The demarcation line (Green Line, border with the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus) also runs not far from Paralimni. Only a few kilometers across the border is the formerly well-known town of Famagusta. There is now an opportunity to get to know Northern Cyprus and the nearby city of Famagusta.
