Description
Explore the wild northwest tip of Cyprus
On this tour you have the opportunity to go deep into the interior of the last undeveloped coastal region of Cyprus. This excursion is perfect for nature lovers of all kinds, especially bird watchers, botany lovers and those who cannot miss fun & action.
The Avakas Gorge
Perhaps the most impressive natural wonder of Cyprus, this deep gorge is famous for its steep limestone walls that converge closely to form a natural tunnel. A not-too-strenuous walk, totaling 30-40 minutes, is required to see the best parts of the canyon. (Remember to wear appropriate footwear.)
Lara and the turtle conservation project
You will visit one of the most important (and pristine) beaches in the entire Mediterranean, Lara Beach, where the Cyprus Turtle Conservation Project has been saving endangered sea turtles from extinction for three decades. Learn the secrets of these sensitive and adorable sea creatures as you are guided through the protective exhibits on the beach. (Note: The turtle nesting season is June to August; the nests hatch by early October).
The coast of Lara Bay
Enjoy breathtaking views and swim (April to October) in a dreamy bay where the water is always calm and the sea has a rare shade of aquamarine. A nearby beach cafe offers the opportunity to relax with coffee or a cool drink.
