On the way in the minibus
The Troodos Mountains are the largest and highest mountain range in Cyprus. Tradition and heritage still play a very important role here today. Set in the midst of breathtaking scenery, small communities and villages have existed for centuries.
Local festivals and events are often dedicated to the village's patron saint, handicrafts, product manufacturing or folk art.
Your first stop will take you to the village of Pera, where you will have a little walk. Continue to the UNESCO protected village of Fikardou. The tour guide will give you a small breakfast here, with typical delicacies to try. Of course you will also explore this small village.
The next destination is to visit the Machairas Monastery, founded at the end of the 12th century and dedicated to the Virgin Mary. Please note the dress code. In addition, photography and filming is not permitted inside the monastery. The monastery has its own herb and orchard and offers various products in its own shop.
The minibus will take you even further up. In the village of Vavatsinia, Takis and his family are waiting for you in their tavern and will spoil you with many delicacies - the typical meze. You can also enjoy the Cypriot cosiness and happiness thanks to his hospitality.
Finally, this beautiful excursion takes you to Lefkara. Stroll through the small streets and maybe you will find a suitable souvenir here, because Lefkara is known for its silver and embroidery art.
