Zu Mal\u00e9 geh\u00f6ren die Schwesterinseln Villingili, Hulhul\u00e9 und Hulhumal\u00e9; auf letzterer befindet sich der Velana International Airport. Der Bau der Br\u00fccke zwischen Mal\u00e9 und Hulhumal\u00e9 wurde erst im September 2018 abgeschlossen.<\/p>\n
In Mal\u00e9 befinden sich die wichtigsten Krankenh\u00e4user, alle h\u00f6heren Schulen, Beh\u00f6rden und der Regierungssitz des Inselstaates. Zudem ist die Stadt das Zentrum f\u00fcr Gewerbe und Handel.<\/p>\n
N\u00f6rdlich der Hauptstadt steht die Alte Freitagsmoschee Hukuru Miskiiy. Sie ist die \u00e4lteste der Korallenstein-Moscheen auf den Malediven und wurde von Sultan Ibrahim Iskandar I. Mitte des 17. Jh. erbaut. Das im Jahr 1984 er\u00f6ffnete Islamische Zentrum mit seiner Moschee, seiner Bibliothek und seiner markanten goldenen Kuppel, die das Stadtbild von Mal\u00e9 pr\u00e4gt, ist sehenswert.<\/p>\n
Weitere Sehensw\u00fcrdigkeiten sind der Palast Muliaage mit dem schmiedeeisernen Tor und die Majeedhee Magu – eine belebte Stra\u00dfe mit Restaurants und Gesch\u00e4ften.<\/p>\n
Ein Highlight ist die vorgelagerte Insel Crossroads, die mit dem Speedboot von Mal\u00e9 aus in 15 Minuten erreichbar ist. Die Marina begeistert mit vielen Restaurants und Gesch\u00e4ften, einem Freizeit- und Kulturzentrum sowie dem Caf\u00e9 del Mar Beach Club.
