Die Insel Holbox liegt nordwestlich von Cancun und ist ca. 42 km lang. Sie ist vom Festland durch eine flache Lagune getrennt, die unz\u00e4hlige Flamingos, Pelikane sowie andere exotische V\u00f6gel und Tiere beheimatet.<\/p>\n
Auf der Insel herrscht eine idyllische und relaxte Atmosph\u00e4re. Die meisten Einwohner von Holbox leben vom Fischfang und nicht selten sieht man die Fischer mit ihrem Tagesfang und den Netzen durch die Stra\u00dfen laufen.<\/p>\n
Die Stra\u00dfen von Holbox bestehen aus wei\u00dfem Karibiksand und es gibt kaum Autos. Das normale Bef\u00f6rderungsmittel sind kleine Golfautos, die hier auch als Taxi eingesetzt werden. Holbox wird bis dato nur von wenigen Touristen besucht. Ein Grund daf\u00fcr ist sicher die abgeschiedene Lage. Der aber, den es auf dieses Eiland verschl\u00e4gt, wird eine beeindruckende, beinahe paradiesische Natur vorfinden.<\/p>\n
Eine der gr\u00f6\u00dften Attraktionen von Holbox sind die Walhaie, die vor der K\u00fcste der Insel in den Monaten Juni bis September anzutreffen sind. Es gibt organisierte Walhai-Safaris, bei denen man diese faszinierenden Meeresbewohner aus n\u00e4chster N\u00e4he vom Boot und\/oder auch beim Schnorcheln beobachten kann.<\/p>\n
