Boat trip to the volcanic island

After an approximately one-hour boat trip from Kardamena, you reach the almost circular island of Nisyros, which is only 40 km² in size. Upon arrival at the port of the small island capital, Mandraki, one gets the impression that this corner of the world has slept through the transition to the 1th century.

Whitewashed houses and narrow streets invite you to explore. You take the bus to the largest walkable and still active crater in Europe (optional). Fascinating photo motifs in the crater and a wonderful panoramic view from the picturesque mountain monastery of Panagia Spiliani arise almost automatically.

Before casting off the ship, you should definitely try the local specialty drink in one of the small kafenions: Suma, a delicious almond milk.
