Boat trip to the volcanic island

After an approximately 1-hour boat trip from Kardamena you will reach the island of Nissyros, which is only 40 km² in size and almost circular.
Upon arriving in the port of Mandraki, the small island capital, one gets the impression that this corner of the world has slept through the transition to the 21st century. Whitewashed houses and narrow alleyways invite exploration.

You can take a bus to the largest accessible and still active crater in Europe (optional). Fascinating photo opportunities within the crater and a magnificent panoramic view from the picturesque mountain monastery of Panagia Spiliani present themselves almost effortlessly.

Before casting off the ship, you should definitely try the local specialty drink in one of the small kafenions: Suma, a delicious almond milk.
