Boat trip to the volcanic island

After a 1-hour boat trip from Kardamena, you will reach the almost circular island of Nissyros, which is only 40 square kilometers in size. When you arrive at the port of the small island capital, Mandraki, you get the impression that this piece of earth has missed the leap into our century.

Whitewashed houses and narrow streets invite you to explore. You take the bus to the largest walkable and still active crater in Europe (optional). Fascinating photo motifs in the crater and a wonderful panoramic view from the picturesque mountain monastery of Panagia Spiliani arise almost automatically.

Before casting off the ship, you should definitely try the local specialty drink in one of the small kafenions: Suma, a delicious almond milk.
