Perfect for impressive keepsakes

After a short drive to the west, to the village of Apokoronos, you will reach a family business of the Braudakis family at the foot of the White Mountains, where olive oil and wine have been produced for generations.

Make a photo stop above the Askifou plateau that stretches north of Imbros. This natural paradise in western Crete impresses with many small surrounding gorges and nature reserves.

You'll travel across the plateau along the Imbros Gorge, the third most visited gorge in Crete. The scent of wild herbs, cedars, and cypresses will accompany you all the way to the coastal region and Frangokastello. The well-preserved 14th-century Venetian castle sits right on a dune beach.

The journey continues along Crete's south coast to the small fishing village of Plakias, nestled in a large valley. Until a few decades ago, the village was a tiny fishing community with only about five houses. Since the arrival of the first hippies in the late 60s, the village has grown considerably. Here you'll have plenty of time to enjoy lunch in one of the local tavernas, do some shopping, or simply relax by the sea.

Next, visit the Preveli Monastery, a national monument of Crete, situated at an altitude of approximately 170 meters above the south coast of Crete. Preveli Monastery is one of the island's most famous monasteries and offers views of the Libyan Sea and an exotic palm grove alongside a large river.

Finally, we visit Damnoni beach, where you can simply relax or swim in the crystal-clear water.
