Highly recommended hike to some of the island's most remote natural beauties

Starting at the Queimadas Forester's Lodge, you will be taken to another world. At an altitude of approx. 900 m along the levada you walk westwards through an emerald green paradise, where ferns and mosses overgrow the cliffs of the green valley and offer a unique natural spectacle. Spectacular views of the villages below or into the mist-shrouded gorge soon appear.

For a change of pace, you will pass through several rather short tunnels on the way before a huge waterfall comes into view, which you will reach only a short time later. It falls majestically into the lush green basin, the impressive Caldeirão Verde.

Take a break to savor this moment and then head back to enjoy this charming, even mystical landscape from a different perspective.
