A visit to the land of the Skipetars
The excursion begins with a boat trip to Agioi Saranda (port fee €15 per person from age 5, not included, payable on site), one of the oldest ports in Albania, located in the far south of the country, opposite northern Corfu.
Immediately upon arrival, you will travel by air-conditioned bus, accompanied by a local, German-speaking guide, to the ancient city of Butrint, located approximately 20 km away. Butrint has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1992. This cultural monument is nestled on a peninsula in a lagoon and has always attracted conquerors, travelers, and those seeking relaxation. Butrint is a second Troy in miniature – as the Roman poet Virgil described it. Even two and a half thousand years ago, the city was known for its mineral springs, and in antiquity, it developed into a spa and festival resort.
During a detailed guided tour through this ruined city, you will see remains of a Greek colony (e.g., amphitheater), a Roman city, and a Byzantine bishopric.
After you have collected many impressions here, a lunch buffet (included) awaits you in the port town of Agioi Saranda.
In the afternoon, your guide will lead you along the waterfront promenade and through the city center. Of course, you'll also have some time to buy a souvenir for yourself or loved ones back home. Euros are accepted.
