Description
Discover the south-east of Crete
Our journey begins in Kastelli and takes us to destinations that combine historical tradition and the impressive landscapes of eastern Crete – where construction work for the new Heraklion airport is currently taking place.
Our next stop is Arkalochori, a region that was severely affected by a powerful earthquake in recent years, yet manages its daily life with great strength and optimism. Here we will visit the local weekly market and have free time to browse and shop. You will have the opportunity to discover local products, fresh fruits and vegetables, traditional Cretan specialties, and delicacies directly from local producers – a wonderful way to experience the everyday life and hospitality of the region.
We then continue to Ano Viannos, located on the southeastern edge of the Heraklion regional unit at the foot of the Dikti Mountains, at an altitude of 560 meters. The village is laid out in an amphitheater style and offers magnificent panoramic views over the surrounding olive groves. The area is rich in flora and fauna and showcases the natural landscape of Crete in a particularly beautiful way.
Afterwards, we'll travel to the charming coastal village of Myrtos, an idyllic seaside resort known for its crystal-clear waters and relaxed atmosphere. Here you'll have time for swimming, relaxing, and enjoying lunch right by the sea – surrounded by nature and the inviting traditional tavernas of the village.
Our last stop is Agios Nikolaos, one of the island's most beautiful towns. There you'll have free time for a stroll around the famous Lake Voulismeni, a coffee, or shopping in the picturesque shops and along the waterfront promenades. Enjoy the special atmosphere of this charming coastal town.
