A fairytale hike through the lush laurel forest

From Ribeiro Frio (= cold river) you start along the Levada Furado to the viewpoint Portela.

Experience the beauty of the flora and fauna up close on this hike. Several waterfalls, densely moss-covered walls, imposing rocks and local bird species you will encounter in this fascinating "jungle". Breathe in the absolutely pure air of the forest.

The interplay of light and shadow will captivate you. You will be accompanied along one of the oldest levadas by the remarkable view of majestic mountains and deep valleys. The closer you get to the end of this hike, the more impressive the panorama of the coastal region around Eagle Rock will be.

Explore the unique laurel forest with its endemic tree and plant species on this all-round successful hike.
